Carrie May is a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Artist, having recently graduated from The Royal College of Art where she studied for an MA in Communication Art and Design. It was here that Carrie devoted much of her time to a new media screen-based book aimed at children learning to read, write and spell using synthetic phonics. The project earned her a finalist position in The Design For Our Future Selves Awards and won The Big Idea Award for Inclusive Communication and was awarded second prize for both the Helen Hamlyn Award for Creativity and for the Future Foundation Award for Inclusive Design Process. Prior to this Carrie studied Illustration at Brighton University. Her work emerges from a love of collage- arranging and layering aged papers, textures, colours and print detail into a resolved composition.
